Echevarria vs. Zaon Collins
The crash occurred in 2020 when the defendant was driving nearly 90 mph in a 35-mph zone. The victim, Eric Echevarria, a 52-year-old husband and father, lost his life in the collision. After criminal proceedings concluded with a plea deal and short jail sentence for the driver, the family sought justice through a civil wrongful death lawsuit.
The defendant’s legal team argued that total damages should not exceed $2.9 million and attempted to place partial blame on Mr. Echevarria. However, the jury found Mr. Echevarria was not negligent and held the defendant fully responsible for the crash and the resulting loss.
Although punitive damages were not awarded, the $15 million verdict stands as a powerful message about the consequences of reckless driving and the value of accountability.
This outcome is a testament to Ladah Law Firm’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for families devastated by preventable tragedies.
